Meet the Theatre Teacher
Katie O'Brien

Originally from Southern California, Katie O’Brien began developing her love and education in the Fine Arts when she was just 2 years old. She is entering her fourth year as the theatre director and teacher at Blair, where she brings energy, creativity, and a deep love of the performing arts to her students. Katie has pursued her passion through both performance and education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Performance and Directing, an EC–12 theatre certification, and a master’s degree in Arts Management and Leadership. She has directed, stage managed, performed in and choreographed shows with performers ranging from ages 4 to 70 years old. She enjoys working with her students to get to see their love and talent for theatre begin and then continue to grow.
In the classroom, Katie is dedicated to helping students discover their voices and grow in confidence; whether they are overcoming stage fright, exploring new forms of self-expression, or stepping into the spotlight for the first time. Her goal is to create a supportive environment where every student feels empowered to take creative risks and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Outside of teaching, Katie remains active in the professional theatre community as a performer. She also treasures time with her fiancé, who is currently serving overseas in Japan as a U.S. Marine.
